Bob and Jana, Gene, Don and his son’s family (Bret, Nicki, Avery, and Sophie), Richard and Karla, George and JJ, and we (Cathy, Rich, Jordan, and Aaron) met at the Loaf ‘N Jug east of Bailey and made our way to the Kenosha Pass campground. There, we aired down and then headed up the road (FS 126).
After climbing quickly and navigating through several switchbacks, we stopped at one of our favorite places to park and take in some views.
The rocky section that followed has continued to erode (leaving bigger rock obstacles), creating some fun challenges for those who decided not to take the bypass. Most of us tested out our skid plates and rear bumpers--meaning, it was a lot of fun!
We ate lunch at the bottom of the steep hill and then headed up the road to the top of North Twin Cone Peak.

At the top, we were afforded the awesome views this run is known for.
(2006 – 2016—some things change quite a bit over 10 years.)
On our way down, we had some more fun in the rocks, and once back in Golden, we ate dinner at On the Border and celebrated George and JJ’s anniversary with some sopapillas for dessert. A very enjoyable day was had by all! (Sorry, no lightning storm excitement again this year. Our track record for this is declining, but I’m not complaining.)
